Chair Points to Investment in Dispatching

Niagara Paramedics and Dispatchers union expressed concern about staffing levels

Niagara's regional chair says council takes its responsibility to fund area paramedic services very seriously.

Jim Bradley tells us they voted unanimously to fund EMS $2.3-million in new funding in the latest budget.

The chair responded to our request concerning a tweet by the Niagara Paramedics and Dispatchers union, that indicated running a dispatch centre with low staffing is not only dangerous for the community, but also for the mental health of dispatchers.

Jim Bradley adds council tenaciously works hard with the provincial government to meet the needs of the community.

Area opposition MPPs at Queens Park, along with local advocates, have been calling on the province to address an ambulance shortage in the region and province.
