Canadian Airports To Resume Mandatory Random COVID-19 Testing For Fully Vaccinated Travelers

Fully vaccinated travelers coming into four Canadian airports will be subject to mandatory random testing beginning next week.

The federal government is bringing back mandatory random testing for fully vaccinated air travelers coming into Canada.

The measure will take effect July 19th after being paused a little over a month ago.

It will affect travelers coming into four major Canadian airports: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.

The Public Health Agency of Canada says random testing will take place offsite, at select locations and pharmacies, or using virtual appointments and self-swab tests.

The ArriveCAN app will make random selections, and travelers will receive an email with instructions within 15 minutes of filling out their customs declaration.

Officials say the move is necessary in order to help detect new COVID-19 variants.

The government also says mandatory random testing will continue at land border entry points.
