Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates honoured Burd Sisler in the Ontario legislature, noting Burd's large family including great, great grandchildren
The oldest Canadian at 110 years old is alive and well in Fort Erie, and he's been honoured at the provincial government.
Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates told the legislature of Burd Sisler's birthday, as well as noting his 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Gates awarded him with the King Charles Coronation Medal. "He is the oldest living Canadian veteran of the 2nd World War, and I believe is the 6th oldest veteran in world wars. Burd spent 30 years working for the Canadian Border Services Agency, and raised a family in Fort Erie."
He referenced that it's never too late to start anything. "I've been extremely privileged to call Burd a friend, in fact, Burd nominated me for re-election as MPP in the last 3 elections, the first time when he was 102 years old."
He added Burd has 22 great grandchildren.
