Bittle Named Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transportation

The Liberal MP for St. Catharines is now Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transportation.

Chris Bittle says he's looking forward to working with Marc Garneau on a challenging file that impacts every riding across the country.

"I've already started speaking to my colleagues about some of the challenges that they face in their riding. I'm sure I'll be meeting with and hearing from local mayors to discuss their issues as well. I'm looking forward to getting into this and getting the work started."

Mayor Walter Sendzik and NRP Chief Bryan MacCulloch both offered their congratulations on Twitter today.

Bittle says he'll always be thinking about his St. Catharines constituents.

"I may be away from the riding a little bit more with travel and other obligations and being here in Ottawa. But I do keep in mind that the job that St. Catharines residents elected me for was to be Member of Parliament for St. Catharines, and it's their issues that are first and foremost in my mind."

Bittle was first elected as St. Catharines MP back in 2015.

He was named the Deputy Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, in September 2017.

Bittle says he has good connections within the Liberal caucus, and that will make him a great advocate.

He says he's looking forward to working with caucus members and the opposition parties.
