Actor Alec Baldwin and weapons specialist Hannah-Gutierrez Reed each charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter

Alec Baldwin and a weapons specialist have been charged in connection to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Baldwin and Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed each face two counts of involuntary manslaughter.

In October 2021, Hutchins was killed on the set of "Rust' In New Mexico.

A prop gun with live rounds fired while Baldwin was holding it.

The actor says he didn't pull the trigger.

According to lawyer Jason Bowles, who is representing Gutierrez-Reed, the charges stem from a "flawed investigation."

This comes about two weeks after Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced the pair would be charged.

Prosecutors have said Baldwin's involvement as a producer and as the person holding the weapon when it fired were factors in the decision to file charges.

Under New Mexico law, involuntary manslaughter linked to negligence is punishable by up to 18 months in prison and a fine of $5,000.

The second set of manslaughter charges accuse the pair of being reckless, which could result in five years in jail since a gun was used.
