Adults in Some Hot Spots to Get Doses; Large Employers Can Apply for Onsite Clinics

The province has identified 114 hot spot communities in the province where anyone 18 and older can get vaccinated, but no new Niagara communities have been added to the list.

The hot spots are identified by postal code and people in those areas will be reached through mass immunization clinics, mobile teams and pop-up clinics.

Anyone 18 and over in the hot spot regions will be eligible to be vaccinated right away.

Locally, only the L2G postal code in Niagara Falls has been recognized as a hot spot.

In addition, large employers will be able to host onsite clinics if they meet the following criteria:

  • The workplace must be located within an identified hot-spot community and have had a previous COVID-19 outbreak or is at risk of an outbreak.
  • The onsite clinic will vaccinate employees that cannot work at home, many of whom reside in hot-spot areas.
  • The employer will also vaccinate those in the local community, either at the onsite clinic or an alternative location in consultation with the local public health unit.
  • The employer will take on the responsibility of setting up, operating and funding the onsite vaccination clinic as well as the community clinics being sponsored if not onsite.
