208 Deaths on OPP Patrolled Roads This Year

To date, the OPP has responded to over 39,000 collisions this year.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are urging the public to be safe on the roads when traveling this long weekend.

The agency is reporting 208 deaths on patrolled roads so far this year.

This weekend, the OPP will take part in the Operation Impact Campaign, in an effort to keep the public safe during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Officers will conduct province-wide targeted enforcement during the initiative, as well as provide education on impaired and aggressive driving and the importance of wearing a seatbelt.

So far this year, the OPP has responded to over 39,000 motor vehicle collisions, 195 of which were deadly.

Speed, driver inattention, lack of a seatbelt and impaired driving are the top four factors behind the fatal crashes.
