5th Annual Charity Shoot for Cystinsis, In conjunction with the Decew Gun Club and the Niagara Peninsula Pistol Club we have held 4 sucessful "Shoot for Cystinosis".
Our purpose is to raise funds and bring awareness to the horrible challenges of children living with Cystinosis. When we pioneered this event, we did so on behalf of a 9 year old St. Catharines girl, the only known case in the Niagara Region, living with this rare, incurable disease that slowly destroys the organs in the body. Since then she has grown into a lovely young lady who doesn’t want to be defined by her disease. In light of this we have renamed the event to the “Shoot for Cystinosis” to highlight the disease and help all the young children afflicted by this disease. Children with Cystinosis are often consigned to growth hormone injections, eye drops hourly, and up to 35 additional doses of medications each day. Cystinosis is a disease so rare that it affects only 2,000 children worldwide.
All money for research comes directly from donations and fundraisers and all money raised will be donated to the “Cystinosis Research Foundation” to fund ongoing research for a cure. The majority of the people attending will be from the Niagara Region and surrounding areas. The Shoot is fun for the whole family and all are welcome.
For the low price of $25 each person gets a practice target, a competition target, lunch and a raffle ticket. Guests will also be able to fire different kinds of exotic firearms for a small fee. No shooting experience is necessary. We have many great volunteers manning the firing line, providing a very professional and safe shooting line. There is no charge for spectators.
