The Niagara Falls Flyers hockey team was honoured at City Hall last night, for winning the OMHA Novice West AA Championship.

Head Coach Brandon Boone says they had quite the season this year, even though they lost their first two games.

"They never gave up and they never quit. After November 1st they ended up 11 games over 500, undefeated in the playoffs and just a group to be proud of."

Boone says they had to battle Bell River for the championship title in the end.

"Bell River had swept their semi-final series, we swept our semi-final series. We met them in the final and we swept them three games to none in the final."

The players are between eight and nine years old. Boone says a majority of them will be returning for the next season.
