Top Hat Ceremony Tomorrow in Port Colborne

A traditional ceremony will celebrate the opening of the Welland Canal.

The captain of the first downbound vessel on the canal will be welcomed tomorrow morning in Port Colborne.

A pancake breakfast will kick of the festivities tomorrow at 8:00 a.m., with entertainment from McKay Elementary students.

The top hat ceremony will be hosted by Mayor Bill Steele.

It's happening at Lock 8 Gateway Park at 8:30 a.m.

The top hat ceremony in St. Catharines will welcome the first upbound vessel on Tuesday.
