A Niagara College chardonnay was one of 11 winning wines, at the Lieutenant Governor's Awards for Excellence.

The 2017 Gastronomy Chardonnay was honoured at George Brown College last Monday, during the 4th annual Winetario event.

The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell even gave Niagara College's Teaching Winery a shout-out during her opening remarks.

"How wonderful it is to see the Niagara College Teaching Winery in the winners’ circle this year! Not only are you pioneers of education in the field of winemaking in Ontario, but your students are already making good on their promise. Your achievement bodes well for the whole industry."

This isn't the first time the wine has brought home some hardware. It also won gold at the 25th annual Ontario Wine Awards, in the Oaked Chardonnay Under $20 category.
