It could still be awhile before the St. Catharines GM employees get back to work.

The General Motors strike in the United States has been going on for about three weeks now.

GM put forward an offer Monday night, but the United Auto Workers turned it down.

Up to 800 employees have been laid off at the St. Catharines plant. The facility get's most of parts from the US.

Reports say the strike has cost GM an estimated $1-billion and it's workers have been living off $250 per week in strike pay.
