Work on Coal Docks in Fort Erie Begins Today

Rankin Construction awarded one million dollar contract

The Niagara Parks Commission announcing on behalf of the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority, it will start work today to replace the structural retaining wall on Niagara Boulevard, known locally as the Coal Docks.

The docks collapsed in 2017 with pieces of concrete falling into the Niagara River.

Test pilings will be done today in the first step of the project.

Full construction will start on January 10th and is expected to be completed by July.

The Parks Commission warns there will likely be dust and noise but no planned road closures at this time.

Niagara Boulevard will remain open but the NPC says there may be temporary delays, traffic controls or lane diversions.
