Niagara Falls will have it's own rainbow crosswalk in the downtown core.

Mayor Jim Diodati says City Council has decided to split the cost with the Downtown BIA.

"We want to build bridges, not walls. We want to have and inclusive and accepting community and that's what Niagara Falls is. I think that was council's way, in a much less expensive way, of showing their support for inclusivity."

He says it's going to cost the City $1,500 instead of $18,000.

It's is going to be located at the south intersection of Erie Ave, connecting City Hall to Rosberg Family Park.

It is the shortest crosswalk at the intersection.

Once it's done, the ladder-style rainbow crosswalk will show support for the LGBTQ community.

The goal is to have it ready by June 1st, which is the start of Pride Month.
