Tourism Minister Lisa MacLeod paid a visit Niagara-on-the-Lake this morning for another big announcement.

She says the province is setting aside $955,000 for arts, culture and festival programming in the Niagara Region.

Close to $225,000 will be going to the South Niagara Canoe Club so it can offer more Dragon Boat programs for breast cancer survivors.

The 2020 Shaw Festival season will receive a cheque for $100,000 and  La Maison de la culture francophone du Niagara will receive $75,000 for rural programming.

The Niagara Historical Society and Museum will receive over $53,000 and that's where Tourism Minister Lisa MacLeod made the funding announcement this morning.

She was joined by Niagara-on-the-Lake Lord Mayor Betty Disero, Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates and Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff.

MacLeod was in Niagara Falls yesterday where she announced that weekend GO train service would resume in Niagara this weekend.
