Police Arrest Fort Erie Man Twice in One Day for Impaired Driving

A Fort Erie man is facing impaired driving charges after being arrested twice on the same day.

Around 10:30 yesterday morning, Fort Erie officers and Niagara EMS paramedics were at a parking lot near Garrison Road and Concession Road.

The man, who was allegedly showing signs of impairment, was in the driver's seat of a parked, running grey Ford Fusion.

Police placed him under arrest, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical assessment.

After being cared for and upon sobriety, officers drove him home around 3:30 PM, releasing him from custody with a court date.

Around 8:20 that night, a member of the public called police to report a possible impaired driver in Port Colborne.

A Ford Fiesta had been observed swerving on the roadway near Fares Street and Nickel Street, going about 10 km/hr.

The driver was stopped by police and arrested for impaired driving.

Thirty-nine year old Matthew James Graham is facing numerous charges, including impaired driving and failure to surrender license.

Anyone who may have witnessed either incident is asked to contact detectives at either 905-688-4111, ext. 1022300 or  905-688-4111, ext. 1023200.
