OPP Launching Operation Impact this Weekend

So far, 278 people have died on OPP-patrolled roads this year

The OPP is urging drivers to stay safe on the road this long weekend.

So far this year, 278 people have died on OPP patrolled roads.

Sgt Kerry Schmidt says the OPP will be on the lookout for problematic behavior.

"We'll be watching out for high-risk driving behavior. We often call that the Big Four: aggressive driving, distracted driving, impaired driving, and people not wearing their seatbelt of safety equipment."

Last year, the OPP investigated seven fatalities during the Thanksgiving long weekend.
