OPP Arrest Fraud Suspect

Police say suspect targeted Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough, Niagara and more

The OPP has made an arrest in connection to a scam investigation.

In May, police kicked off an investigation into frauds and property crimes related to the same person.

Police say the individual would identify themselves as a heavy equipment operator/contractor, and offer fraudulent services for vehicle detailing.

According to the OPP, the person used fake names, online accounts and emails in order to accept e-transfers.

The frauds took place in several parts of Ontario, including Niagara, Haliburton Highlands, Kawartha Lakes, Essex County, Peterborough, Saugeen Shores and Alaguin Highlands.

On June 8th, police arrested 37 year old Chris Graham of Clarington.

He's been charged with the following offences:

  • Fraud Under $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Fraud Over $5,000

If you think you were a victim of this scam, you're asked to call Niagara Regional Police or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
