Niagara Health Sees Rise in ER Visits

You're being asked by Niagara Health to consider other health care options this holiday season.

A reminder from Niagara Health to know your options if you need medical help this holiday season.

Niagara Health says due to the seasonal rise in respiratory illness, including COVID-19, the flu, and RSV (respiratory syncytial virus), area emergency departments are experiencing an increase in the number of admissions and longer wait times.

To help alleviate the pressures on emergency departments, you're asked to consider if it really is an emergency, and use your family doctor, visit a walk-in clinic, or book a virtual urgent care appointment.

Niagara Health adds by being vaccinated against influenza, COVID-19 and RSV, this can help reduce visits to an emergency room.

Niagara Health's in-patient beds are at full capacity, but due to shifting patients around, and having a strong plan in place, Niagara Health can still provide the best care for those who need it.
