New Supportive Housing Project Coming to Niagara

Niagara Region, the City of Niagara Falls and Niagara Regional Housing are teaming up on a project to address homelessness.

The permanent supportive housing project will be located at 5017 Victoria Avenue, also known as the former library site.

The project aims to assist those living in a state of chronic homelessness and who have significant needs regarding addictions and mental and physical health.

Up to 21 beds will be available for temporary housing for individuals.

There will be an additional three beds for recuperative care, which would support homeless individuals recently discharged from hospital.

Services to be offered include meals, adult experiential learning, and 24/7 case management support services.

The facility is estimated to cost $3.7 million, and it will be developed with renovation funding from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs.

The project will be completed and ready for occupants on December 31st, 2021.
