A new contract has been ratified following a lockout at THK Rhythm Automotive in St. Catharines.

The lockout began on May 6th, after the expiry of the previous deal.

The company, which is owned by THK Global, argued that the St. Catharines plant hasn't been commercially successful since 2017.

As reported by St. Catharines Standard, Union President Frank Viscek responded that due to $20 million in capital investments put into plants, the company knew it wouldn't be profitable until 2022.

As a result, the union's main goal was to protect jobs at the Louth Street plant.

Workers were back on the job on May 20th after accepting a two year contact offered by the company.
