Live Christmas Tree Shortage Expected in Canada This Year

Experts say increased demand and unfavourable weather conditions have limited the amount of live Christmas trees available this season.

You may want to buy a Christmas tree sooner rather than later.

Officials with the Canadian Christmas Tree Association say Canadians are facing a shortage of live Christmas trees this holiday season.

Experts note tree farmers are having trouble keeping up with the demand, and adverse weather conditions aren't helping.

At least one major retailer won't be selling live trees this season.

IKEA says it won't offer trees in Canada this year due to the supply shortage.

If you're looking to get one soon, you're advised to keep it in a cool, damp place, but out of the elements.

When you do bring it in, you should make a fresh cut, put it in water, and be sure to water it daily.
