Heavy Rain and Wind Continue

Winds are expected to intensify into this evening with gusts of 70 to 80 km/h.


Environment Canada is warning people in Niagara of multiple hazards as strong winds and heavy rain are expected to continue today. 

The national agency says wind gusts of 70 to 80 km/h are expected, "Strong wind gusts may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur."

Rainfall in Niagara is expected to eases up this afternoon, but localized flooding in some areas is possible.

The winds will ease late tonight and into Saturday morning.

In terms of temperature, a high of 8 C is expected in Niagara Friday, going down to a low of 3 C overnight.

There’s a 40 per cent chance of showers on Saturday, with clear skies in the afternoon and a high of 10 C expected. A high of 14 C is expected on Sunday with a 30 per cent chance of showers.

Next week is expected to start off warm and sunny, with highs of 13 C and 14 C Monday and Tuesday. More rain could be in store Wednesday and Thursday, but temperatures are expected to remain in the mid teens.
