Research from the John Hopkins University indicates that over 2 million people around the world have now died from COVID-19
The one million mark was hit at the eight month point, which was less than four months ago.
This news comes the same day that Canadian public health officials released new modelling that suggests the country could see as many as 10,000 infections per day and 2,000 more deaths by the end of this month.
Chief Public Health Officer Doctor Theresa Tam says that without strong, quick measures, the virus will continue to spread rampantly.
