The deceased pilots have been identified as Captain David Domagala and Captain Marc Larouche.

The Royal Canadian Air Force has released the names of the crew members killed in this week's helicopter crash.

Just after midnight on Tuesday, a CH-147 Chinook helicopter went into the Ottawa River in the Petawawa area.

Four crew members were conducting a training exercise, and two were pulled from the water.

The rescued pilots were taken to hospital for minor injuries.

The bodies of the other pilots were found Tuesday evening.

They have been identified as Captain David Domagala of Woodstock, Ontario, and Captain Marc Larouche of Amos, Quebec.

Domagala, 32, joined the 450 Helicopter Squadron in 2019.

Larouche, 53, earned a private pilot's license before becoming an Air Force member.

The Air Force's Directorate of Flight Safety continues to investigate the cause of the crash.

In a statement, the RCAF says the squad resumed flying operations with the CH-147 earlier today.
